Finding the Light

At first glance, Jessica and Josh Heffinger don’t look like people who have experienced tragedy, but it was out of tragedy that their ministry was born.

The Heffingers started Glory Baby Ministry in February 2017. The ministry takes donated formal gowns and turns them into burial and memorial gowns and wraps for stilbirths and infant loss. It’s a personal cause for the Heffingers.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - For Jessica and Josh Heffinger, becoming parents was something they knew they wanted, so they were overjoyed in 2010 to find out they were pregnant with their first child as Jessica explains:

"We found out it was a girl and we were super excited"

Josh and Jessica Heffinger were excited in 2010.

“We got pregnant. Her name was Riley Marie,” Jessica Heffinger said. “We went in for a 21-week ultrasound. We already knew she was a girl.”

But when the technician didn’t turn the monitor around to show them pictures, Jessica Heffinger knew something was wrong. When the tech left the room, she turned the screen and noticed there were only five pictures taken and one of them had a straight line through it.

“The tech said we’d wait until the doctor came in,” Jessica Heffinger said. “The doctor said there was not a heartbeat.”
